Digiflex Has Gone Digital With the D-8PR-AES/EBU
09/03/2009

Digiflex took the best features of our standard snake cable, improved the quality and made it digital by building it toAES/EBU specs! Its blue outer jacket reflects the digital audio characteristics according to the Canare standards.

Like all our standard snake cable, the outer jacket is very thick and rugged. The D-8PR-AES/EBU possesses an industry-leading 1/8" thickness compared to the 1/16" most manufacturers use; yet still remains to be extremely flexible.

Finally, the D-8PR-AES/EBU allows customers to have an AES/EBU assembly at close to half the cost of the industry leading Canare equivalent.

Digiflex vs the Competition
09/03/2009

The extra steps Digiflex takes to ensure quality are not always evident at first glance. Digiflex uses only the new Neutrik XX series connectors on all series (excluding Musiflex). This offers superior shielding and an improved latch.

Digiflex offers custom labeling on all of its cables. It is as simple as adding - ID2 to your order with a description of what you would like to appear on the 2-inch label. Digiflex cables come with a 3-inch clear shrink (free-of-charge) that you can shrink over your own label or we can shrink over your Digiflex (supplied) custom label. The competition does not place clear shrink over the top of its ID label which then eventually rub off or become illegible after a few gigs.

Microphone cables can often look very similar from the outside. Open them up and the differences become evident. A good example would be the comparison between Digiflex Tourflex series cables and the competition's low noise microphone cables.

The Digiflex has tighter shielding thus no gaps can be seen. The competition shield is looser and visible gaps are evident. The Tourflex uses dense cotton fillers compared to the sparse jute fillers of the competition. This means less twisting and stretching of the inner conductors. The pitch of the conductors or the amount of twists per inch is greater in Tourflex cable. The Tourflex cable has a full twist every ¾" compared to the competition's 1-¼". The more twists per inch increases the cables ability to reject noise.

Digiflex Improves Quality of its Standard Snake Cable
09/03/2009

Digiflex has improved the quality of its standard snake cable without increasing the price. Typically, snake cable jacketsare .063" thick. With Digiflex, the thickness of the jacket is .125". This greatly increases the protection of the fragile inner conductors. The jacket is now rated FT4 fire rated.

The new PVC compound of the jacket makes this new snake cable even more flexible than the older version. We have also increased the number of twists per inch of the conductors; more twists of the audio conductors means less noise can get into the signal chain. This will make quite the difference in a snake cable that is a couple of hundred feet long.

We have also increased the shield coverage to 125%. Our snake cable is now less prone to RFI and EMI thus making for a cleaner sound. The manufacturing tolerances have been tightened which means less capacitive imbalance between the conductors and the shield. Capacitive imbalance greatly decreases the CMRR or the ability of the receiving circuit to reject noise. We have tightened the tolerance to less than 2%.
